Forever blowing bubbles at Gary Grindal Court
In mid-May we were delighted to host the opening ceremony for Gary Grindal Court, our latest affordable housing development
Based on Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, Gary Grindal Court comprises 57 stylish, comfortable and well-equipped apartments. It is named after our late Chair, who was a passionate advocate of affordable housing and a former North Herts Council Cabinet Member.
Gary was also a lifelong fan of West Ham United, so we all took a moment to remember him at the end of the ceremony. Bubbles floated along freely above the heads of staff and guests as they sang the song favoured by Hammers fans around the globe: “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Gary Grindal Court residents, the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, local MP Chris Hinchliff, many of FGCH’s staff and local partners, and – most important of all – Gary’s close family.
Resident Mrs Lois Brown, 78, who moved from Hitchin following the loss of her much-loved husband of 58 years, said: “I really love it here. All my neighbours are very nice and so supportive.”
