Introducing...Tenancy Sustainment

Our new Tenancy Sustainment service gives us a wonderful opportunity to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents who need a helping hand.

What makes the service so different is its holistic approach. Our two new tenancy sustainment officers, Alison Hilton and Olivia Towler, firstly take the time to find out about the various different challenges residents face. Having seen ‘the complete picture’, they devise a support plan and put it into action.

Every support package is tailored to meet the needs of the resident. Examples include activities that can improve their emotional and physical health; confidential money and debt advice; support at a time of personal crisis; and help with gaining the skills and confidence to set up home and live independently.

Case study

A resident reported a leak in their bathroom to us. The Maintenance team responded quickly to fix the leak, then went the extra mile by getting in touch with Alison to let her know that the resident could benefit from her support.

Alison wasted no time in setting up a meeting with the resident at their home. They had a long chat, which enabled her to gain a good understanding of the resident’s current circumstances and the difficulties they faced. Alison then implemented a comprehensive support package, including:

  • Assisting with gas/electricity bills, using FGCH’s Household Support Fund
  • Applying for their Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to be reinstated
  • Arranging for the local chemist to deliver prescriptions to the resident’s home
  • Making a referral to social services for help with the resident’s paperwork and additional support
  • Arranging for Morrisons to deliver food shopping through its Community Champion scheme.
